Pickleball was in the spotlight at the recent Aberdeenshire Clubsport awards.
84-year-old Eric Fordyce was named volunteer of the year for his work delivering pickleball sessions and his impact on the community sport hub areas across North Aberdeenshire.
His incredible commitment has enabled more than 400 players to get involved in the game, not just in the usual places – he has even run a session at Peterhead Prison, where he introduced the sport to the staff.

Aberdeenshire Clubsport describe Eric as “an amazing gentleman” – and in addition to his award, Eric was also presented with a cake to celebrate his upcoming birthday!
Congratulations to Eric and all involved.
WOW, fantastic recognition of your accomplishments Eric. Pickleball is truly powered by volunteers up and down the country. I am willing to bet though that Eric might be one of the most senior. Goes to show that age is just a number!
