Another medal added to Fe’s haul

Fe Edwards is well used to picking up medals. She’s just added the bronze medal in the inaugural English Pickleball League to her collection, finishing third with her Pickleball Central club teammates.

The semi-final against Southampton Sharks was a close one – missing out on a dream-breaker after a very close last mixed doubles – but despite that, they bounced back to defeat AFPC Scorpions and finish third.

“It was a bit of a disappointment, but we did well to get there, and then we won the next one, for the bronze medal match,” she tells Pickleball 52.

“The team played really well, so it was lovely.”

The squad on finals day comprised Fe, Sarah Reading, Jason Edwards Pereira, Ben Phillips, Sabrina Edwards and Brenda Parker, and they were missing Chris Carswell and Rob Adams who had played earlier in the competition. They had gone into the event in Leeds thinking they might have a chance of coming away with a medal, knowing how well they had performed regionally – but they did not underestimate their opponents.

“Some of the teams, they’ve got some PPL players, or players that have been picked for the England team,” she says.

Fe herself will be part of the Premier Pickleball League Masters events, joining Rob Williams and Team PSO, with the opening event this coming weekend in Corby.

“I’ve never played on Rob’s team, I’ve always been against him before, so that’s nice to play with him as opposed to against him!” she says.

  1. Fantastic result for the West Midlands region and the West Midlands Pickleball League (WMPL), which only had its first season with just 3 rounds this year. PBC UK, topped the tables every round and were the winner for the season, so for then to take away a Bronze medal is awesome. 🤩
