Cambridge Pickleball Club held their annual charity team tournament last month – and raised lots of money for multiple good causes.
The Willing Cup is held every August in memory of Denis Willing, the founder and former chairman of Cambridge Pickleball Club, and each team plays against all others in their category (21 games each this time round).
The winners are the teams with the highest amount of points at the end of the weekend, with this year’s gold medallists across the categories being The Spin Doctors, Saffron Walden Drop Shot Divas, Arun Aces and Hasanthi’s Heroes.
The tournament organisers have made donations this year to the Royal Papworth Hospital, to maintain the leaf on the remembrance tree there in memory of Denis Willing, and to Support Nepal UK, supporting the club’s sponsored child’s education.
Winning teams also nominated charities for donations, with money going to Chestnut Tree Children’s Hospice, Alzheimer’s Society, Dementia UK, and Breast Cancer Now.
The next Cambridge team tournament will be the Stoehr Cup in February 2027.
