Even more Pickleball in the Park in Gosport

Pickleball is well and truly in the Park at Gosport!

Indeed, Pickleball in the Park has come a long way in just over a year: starting from complete scratch up to almost 80 and a waiting list for a free two-hour introduction to the sport.

And they’ve just opened two additional pickleball courts to operate alongside the two free-to-use courts that have been available since July 2025.

“With the number of players increasing it became obvious that we needed additional courts,” says Ian Kingsbury. “Therefore, in April 2026, we approached the Council’s Public Spaces Team and asked if we could have two pickleball courts lined on the adjacent #4 tennis court.

“Soon after the May Council Elections we were conscious that financing this project may be a problem for the council, so in June the Park Picklers offered, by way of fundraising and donations, to pay for the courts to be lined.”

After discussions and delays, the red ribbon on the courts was finally cut by Gosport mayor Kirsten Bradley and MP Dame Caroline Dinenage DBE, meaning even more people in the area have the chance to play.
