Louis Laville was named player of the tie as Hyderabad Super Stars beat Pune United in the World Pickleball League.
He helped his team to a 3-2 tie-breaker win over Pune United that took them to the top of the table.
“We’ve started getting to know each other, we’re getting better match by match. To come through that one tonight was pretty awesome,” he said to the tournament social media afterwards.
“The team is going to be on a massive high.”
He added: “Full credit to Pune United, they put up a massive fight today coming back from their 5-0 loss in the first game. Katie [Morris] played really well in singles, then their mixed team did really well, they almost won the game, we got one on the last point to get a draw.
Then it came down to men’s. We knew we had to win, we didn’t start very well. I think we were about 3-10 down, but I said to both Pep [Canyadell] and Mayur [Patil] at the time, keep the ball in court, make some sensible choices and the balls will come.
“Sure enough they did. We got to a point where there was about five seconds left at the end and managed to get a winner and it was tie-breaker time – you know what happened in the tie-breaker. It was a pretty awesome moment.”
