MCMX turned the tables on JDS Foods in the finale of the Premier Pickleball League.
JDS Foods may have topped the table over the course of the season, but MCMX took the title at finals weekend, with Kevin Fossali hitting the winning point to secure them the Mitchell Cup.
“It was more than I imagined,” he tells Pickleball 52. “Pickleball is just pickleball sometimes, but when you’ve got people around you that you’ve got to know and grown with over a period of nine months, and to win something together, it’s really, really nice.”
Not only did he score the winning point, he was in fine form across the weekend, not losing a game in the finals.
“I was prepared, we were all prepared, and I have been playing well, but the format is very different to the one that you normally play – scores can change very quickly. You seem to be on edge all the time.
“I felt the pressure from the moment we started, but felt that if we played well we had a chance.”
And along with Suzanne Rouse, Kirsty Gray, Heidi McCune, Richard Love, Neil Rodford and team manager Lou Stephens, Fossali lifted the trophy – and is already looking forward to the possibility of competing again next season.
