New pickleball venue Courtside opens in Stourbridge

The West Midlands is increasingly becoming a hotbed of pickleball.

And that’s underlined by the opening of the new Courtside venue in Stourbridge – which features eight state-of-the-art courts as well as community spaces.

Founded by Boon Yeng and Josh Yeng, it officially opened its doors last weekend, hosting a celebration attended by players, officials and local dignitaries alike that included everything from fundraising to exhibition matches.

“From world-famous glassmaking to becoming a centre for pickleball, Stourbridge is embracing innovation and community spirit in equal measure,” said mayor Peter Lee.

Pickleball England’s new national board held their first meeting at the venue – with
West Midlands regional director Michael de Groot highlighting Courtside’s role in hosting leagues, leader certification sessions, and youth programs.
