Pickleball England are seeking referees for the forthcoming English OPEN – and are calling for candidates to put their names forward.
For the third year in a row, the tournament will be held at the Telford International Centre from August 6th to 10th (inclusive), and the organisers need 30 referees to operate across the five days of scheduled play on 40 courts.
Interested referees need to have a USAP or EPF Referee qualification to be able to referee on court, but trainees are welcome to shadow.
Successful applicants will receive payment plus either accommodation or an allowance for accommodation, parking and food vouchers.
“Referees in pickleball play a crucial role in ensuring the game is played fairly, safely, and according to official rules,” says Kelly Dawson, who’s leading on putting the officiating team together. “They keep the game running smoothly and ensure the players can focus on performance rather than disputes.”
She adds: “Refereeing is a great way to connect with other passionate pickleball players and be part of the tournament scene, and you would be contributing to the growth and professionalism of a rapidly expanding sport.”
Anyone who is interested should contact Kelly directly via email or WhatsApp (07973 198059).
