“Smile and have fun” – Anna Linton continues as English Nationals triple crown champion

Anna Linton continued her superb 2025 form at the English Nationals over the weekend.

She began the tournament by winning the mixed doubles senior open with Richard Love – telling Pickleball 52: “I felt really happy with the way we played all day.”

She added: “We had to really stay focused as we had some tough opponents and we knew if we let up we would be in trouble.

“The scores didn’t really reflect the competitiveness of the matches but I think we played the important points well.

“Richard and I haven’t been able to play together as much as he has moved to Farnham to start the new Hurlands club but we really played as a team and had fun on court. We said we were going to smile and have fun and we did.”

And there was more fun to be had on Friday when she partnered Marcia Audibert to the women’s doubles senior open gold – meaning that she continues as the Nationals triple crown champion.

As if that wasn’t enough, she also entered the women’s doubles open on Saturday, pairing up with Ellie Tomkinson – and the pair finished third in Group B, with the same match win record as group winners Mollie Knaggs and Charlotte Pressley and runners-up Emma Wrixon and Lauren Gosling.

It’s just the latest excellent tournament for Linton in a year that included gold in the women’s senior doubles and silver in the singles at the European Championships.
