Spreading the word: Daniel relishing new ambassador role

The PicklePad in Dorset has caught the eye repeatedly since it opened its doors in January – and now some of the UK’s rising stars are getting on board.

Daniel Wren is one of the PicklePad’s new ambassadors, having discovered them earlier this year when he tried out the courts and loved the atmosphere and the facilities.

“I liked what they were doing with the community feel, hosting sessions such as Dinks and Drinks,” he says. “It encourages people to play pickleball and be social afterwards. And I love the facilities there – the courts are not only good looking, but also nice to play on.”

And now as an ambassador, he has an official role, which he sees as straightforward: “I’m representing the PicklePad and spreading the word about them and their facilities!”

Daniel started playing around six years ago, when his dad saw an advert in the paper for pickleball. He already played racquet sports and thought it might be a good fit – which it was.

He says his proudest achievement so far is winning in Season 1 of the Premier Pickleball League, and the success he’s started to have as he begins to play more tournaments abroad.

As for the rest of the year, his ambitions are clear: “Just to play as much as I can, improve as much as I can, and pick up some more medals!”
