“UK Pickleball Shop will give it everything we’ve got”: Captain Nohemi on PPL Masters

Nohemi Reynoso is back in the Premier Pickleball League Masters for the second year running – captaining the UK Pickleball Shop team, something she describes as “a huge honour”.

“It’s not just about choosing line-ups or making decisions,” she says, “it’s about creating unity and energy within the team. I see myself as an enthusiastic and supportive captain. I try to motivate my players, keep the mood positive, and make sure everyone feels confident and included, whether they’re seasoned competitors or playing their first league match.”

Nohemi has been playing pickleball for an incredible 17 years, beginning when she was living in the USA. In fact, she visits her daughter there often, so when she has a match in the UK it’s possible that she’s flying in directly from Texas!

“Pickleball continues to be a huge part of my life,” she says. “It’s a great way to meet new people, coming from a different country.”

Her squad includes Anthony Johnston, Elaine Brown, Stu Stimson, Rochelle Penrose and Justin Meiland, and she is full of praise for each of them.

“We have such a fantastic group. Some of our players have a lot of tournament experience and have even won medals at high-level events. Others are newer to competitive play and are stepping into the league for the first time. That mix of experience and fresh energy gives us a great balance.

“We support each other on and off the court, and that team chemistry is everything. I was very involved in the selection process, and for me, it was about more than just ability — it was about building a team that believes in each other.”

Nohemi is a big fan of the Masters league format, with singles, doubles and mixed all on the same day, meaning each player has different ways to contribute towards a team’s success.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing how the team grows throughout the competition. We’ve got a lot of heart, and I think we’re going to have some amazing moments this season.”

She also likes the atmosphere of the league as a whole, which she calls “friendly and welcoming”, adding: “Everyone wants to win, but there’s also a real sense of community.”

And for opponents and fans who want to know what to expect from Nohemi’s team, she declares: “The UK Pickleball Shop team is ready, and we can’t wait to compete, connect, and enjoy every match. Win or lose, we’ll be giving it everything we’ve got.”
